Britain is "institutionally racist" says top cop
Metropolitan Police Chief Sir Ian Blair today claimed that Britain was 'institutionally racist' pointing to a survey that showed 92% of all British people are white.
Sir Ian told the Metropolitan Police Authority that "almost nobody" could understand how this came about.
In a Newsnight interview to be broadcast tonight, Sir Ian describes the difficulties faced by the modern Police Force working in such sensitive circumstances. "It makes our investigations so much harder when the white community is involved," he explains, "because white pressure groups insist on monitoring our activities."
"There is a very strong focus on issues like white collar crime, often at the expense of other crimes, like blackmail," he continues, "and there is intense pressure to ensure that only white people get arrested."
Sir Ian proudly insists his officers have managed to remain impartial despite these constraints. "There is no bias towards arresting white people," he claimed, "The picture is a lot more equal in our prisons, where only 84% of inmates are white."
Several leaders in the White community have expressed concern at Sir Ian's outburst. "These comments can only be construed as unhelpful," ranted Garry Bushell.
