War Poetry
In a characteristically late celebration of last Thursday's National Poetry Day, DeadBrain brings you a small selection of poems on the crisis in Iraq.

The Big Meet
Said George W, "Tony, could you
Come to Iraq for another crack
At Saddam Hussein, I just can't refrain
It's got to be done; the war has to be won
But it's lonely on my own – I need you, Tone.
I just thought: I've got no support
There's only my Dad, the rest think I'm mad!

It'd be like Kabul - it wouldn't be dull
Plenty of bombs for everyone
Out of the sky - no need to ask why
Or where they go 'cos we never know.
It's for a good cause - mine and yours –
Like the war on terror - avenging an error:
My Dad's in '91."

"I see your strife," said Tony's wife,
to the American eagle. "But it isn't legal
You can't do it, you silly twit
You need the UN, they're important men
Get a resolution before your solution."
"Nonsense," said Bush, continuing his gush.
"I made one last year, before you were here."

"Oh dear," sobbed Blair, hugging his bear.
"Before you cry, let me try,"
said Alastair Campbell, taking a gamble.
"In blood we will pay, so long as we stay
two special friends, until it all ends."
"Get outta there!" shouted little Clare.
"We'll pay with VISA if that will please ya!"

"Blood it must be," ruled King Tony.
"But you needn't whine, it won't be yours or mine.
We'll send in the boys and their clever toys
It'll be out of the way by Christmas Day."
"I've seen it before," moaned Robin from the floor.
"It won't work out well, it'll be hell
But at least we'll have boxes for the day after."

This looks good...
