| ![]() One year since it first started spitting out satirical news-related content, respected TV historian Professor Douglas Ramsbottom looks back at DeadBrain's history. Born into a poor mining family in 1940s West Yorkshire, world-renowned news satire website DeadBrain had an unlikely start, not least because in the 1940s the Internet had yet to be invented. The website soon developed a reputation for being advanced for its age, though. By the age of 5 the website had already achieved an entirely pointless degree in molecular biology – twice – and developed a 70s-style Afro. Two years on, the website was elected as the independent MP for Ramsbottom South by a massive majority. From there it quickly rose through the ranks and headed several influential select committees. After receiving credit from the government for "everything right with the country", the Queen held a reception in DeadBrain's honour shortly after she was crowned in 1952. However, while she expressed the country's eternal gratitude for all of the website's work, events took a dramatic turn for the worse. A renegade Lambeth greengrocer, angry at the Queen's decision not to buy her fruit 'n' veg from his shop, forced his way into the Buckingham Palace garden party. Brandishing a parsnip sharpened to a potentially lethal point, the man rushed up to the Queen's table and lunged at her. Her Majesty was only saved by the quick thinking of the aforementioned news satire website. Remembering its advanced training in the martial arts, DeadBrain leapt up onto the Queen's table and "thoroughly decked" her attacker until he could be arrested. Police reports at the time suggest that the Queen sustained only minor injuries and the incident was not reported so as not to scare the public. As a reward for the website's bravery, the Queen knighted it on the spot and offered to loan it one of her corgis.
